So I’m off in the morning to DC for an incredibly enjoyable task. On Monday, my dear friend Jamie Barton receives the Marian Anderson award. A valuable prize richly deserved goes to a friend whose immense talent, hard work, and generous soul do honor to the woman who inspired the award. I get to ride shotgun at the performance featuring Jamie and two friends, Michael Kelly and Amber Wagner. We’ll musizier’ it up good at 6 pm Eastern in the Kennedy Center’s Terrace Theater. Live stream and archive can be found at the Kennedy Center’s site. Hope you can join us!
Valuable prizes indeed: Sibelius, Strauss, Korngold, and people with the voices and souls to make them sound, and people to listen. And all of this in tribute to, and because of, an incredible, intrepid soul. Yes.
