Watching the Tigers play on a sunny weekend, I’m feeling very at home here in Michigan after just three and a half months. Hard to believe we are at the end of the semester. I’m so fortunate to be working with this fine student body and excellent faculty. At auditions for the fall opera a few days ago, I had the chance to revel in the progress that every single singer has made, thanks to the great resources and fertile atmosphere of this place. My heart is full of gratitude to everyone, and I am looking forward to the fall. There are more great projects ahead, and I’m also thrilled that my dear colleague David Daniels will be joining our faculty.
There’s a big week of plane travel ahead – three states in four days – so stay tuned! For now, I hope it’s sunny springtime where you are, just like here in the D.
