Yesterday I was privileged to spend some time with the lovely young artists at the Castleton Festival working on Wagner and Strauss. How good it is to see people working to carry on the legacy of Maestro Loren Maazel, including my U-M colleague Stanford Olsen who’s now the head of CATS, the Castleton Artists Training Seminar.
Tonight is the final Nozze at Wolf Trap, and tomorrow begins a week’s break before more teaching begins in Princeton NJ. I can hardly believe these wonderful weeks in Virginia are drawing to a close. To all of the vibrant, committed young singers and players that I’ve been lucky to meet, my best wishes for your performances this summer and in all the years to come. Here’s to our paths crossing over and over again!
